I'm a Financial Planner Practitioner, Broker, Insurance Agent, and Company Manager at Sommer Investments, where my primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive financial planning for our clients and running the day-to-day operations of the company. I specialize in retirement planning and estate planning, drawing on over 33 years of experience in the financial services industry. Throughout my career, I've worked at Securities America, PFG Advisors, and Beam Asset Management, and I've earned both the CFS® and CFP® designations to better serve my clients with experience they can trust.
What motivates me most is figuring out the puzzle pieces of a solid financial plan, particularly when it comes to helping women receive the respect and recommendations they deserve, and providing the detailed analysis that engineers need to make confident decisions. My inspiration to work in financial services came from several powerful personal experiences: working at a bank where I witnessed women being ignored or given inferior recommendations compared to men with the same risk tolerance, seeing engineers dismissed because they asked for too much detail, and experiencing the tragic loss of seven people in a car accident that taught me the critical importance of having an estate plan in place. Combined with heart problems that run in my husband's family and the loss of my husband's mother and baby during childbirth, these experiences showed me that life and death happen, and we must be prepared.
The greatest joy in my work comes from knowing I've made a positive impact on many people's lives, and I believe the greatest value I provide is offering information and support that empowers clients to make informed financial decisions. I currently live in St. Charles County, Missouri, with my husband Jeff, who is also my high school sweetheart. My family is my greatest blessing: my daughter Anna Meurer works alongside me and has grown into a wonderful help both in and out of the business, my son-in-law Spencer Meurer is kind-hearted and helps Jeff and me maintain our independence, and my granddaughters Peyton and Lennon are helpful, kind, and smart young ladies who constantly remind us there is always good in the young people of the world.
Outside of the office, I firmly believe you cannot just take from a community—you must give back. Much of my time through the years has been dedicated to working with community organizations and serving on city committees because I believe in actively contributing to the places where we live and work. I'm actively involved in the St. Charles Regional Chamber as well as the FPA of Greater St. Louis, always looking for ways to support and strengthen our community through service and collaboration.
